Sleeping Bear Weekend

Last weekend we finally found the time to get away from it all and go camping! We were so glad we did.  At 6am Saturday morning we headed up to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.  On the way we had a pit stop in Arcadia, Mi and had breakfast at a scenic roadside turn-out.  Lake Michigan was so beautiful.  I reflected on how fortunate we are to be from this area.  After all the places Ryan and I have traveled to around the world I am still overwhelmed by the view of the lake from the top of one of its dunes.

We spent the day swimming in Platte River and Lake Michigan, visiting an old fashioned fair complete with unicycle riders, exploring old farms, checking out the lake from different vantage points, getting a tasty treat in Glen Arbor, antiquing in Empire and finishing the evening off skipping stones in front of a sunset.
